Caldor fire displaces more than 50,000 people and threatens 33,000 buildings near Lake Tahoe

Firefighters have issued more evacuation orders, alerts and warnings around the Lake Tahoe basin while the huge Caldor fire continues to ravage in El Dorado and Amador counties in northern California , burning more than 186, 00 0 acres and devastating hundreds of homes and businesses.

The Caldor fire, which is contained in a 17%, has destroyed up to Tuesday 669 structures and damaged others 40, with 5 people injured, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).

As the fire spreads into the Lake Tahoe area, threatens with burning other 33, 679 houses and businesses on your way . Over 3,500 firefighters are working to control the fire, according to the report of the Incident Information System (Inciweb).

Firefighters issued orders for mandatory evacuations in El Dorado and Alpine counties on Sunday. To over 26, 00 0 residents have been told to evacuate near the freeway 50, which connects Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe.

On Tuesday, evacuation orders were extended to the residents of Douglas County, Nevada.

The governors of California and Nevada declared a state of emergency on Monday , when the rapid Caldor fire, now the seventeenth incen largest forester on record in California, prompted officials to tell everyone in the city of South Lake Tahoe to get out of there.

Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Alpine, Amador and Placer counties, which surround the Lake Tahoe, his office announced.

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak , also declared a state of emergency Monday in anticipation of flames from the Caldor fire crossing state lines.

Cal Fire estimates that the total containment of the Caldor fire will be for the 13 of September. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Dixie fire continues in California

Meanwhile, the Dixie Fire, the largest wildfire in the state, h has burned more than 807, 00 0 acres and was contained in a 48% through Tuesday, said Cal Fire.

The Dixie and Caldor fires are the first wildfires to burn from one side to another from the Sierra Nevada mountain range, said Cal Fire chief Thom Porter, according to CBS News .

The threat of wildfires is so widespread in California that the Forest Service announced the Monday that all national forests in the state would be closed until 17 of September.
