Guadalupe Fernández Valencia, alias La Patrona , important member of the Sinaloa Cartel ( CDS) was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a federal court of Chicago .
The sentence was not greater because Fernández , from 60 years, provided key assistance to federal prosecutors on drug trafficking from Culiacán to States United , according to the Chicago Sun-Times .

“I want to take this opportunity to apologize to my children and my family I wish I could find the words to convince you of how sorry I am, ”Fernández told federal judge Sharon Johnson Coleman , who handed down the sentence against the woman.
Fernández Valencia pleaded guilty more than two years ago to conspiring to traffic drugs and money laundering.
According to his guilty plea, contributed to smuggling 3, 500 pounds (about 1. 600 kilograms) of marijuana to the United States between 2009 and 2010 and, at the same time, moved an average of 30 pounds (30 kilos) of cocaine per week to clients in Los Angeles.
La Patrona was the only woman accused along with Joaquín “el Chapo” Guzmán and other drug traffickers in a case in Chicago, although Guzmán Loera, former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel was finally prosecuted in Brooklyn and sentenced to life imprisonment.
La Patrona’s criminal career
When his brother Manuel Fernández Valencia was arrested in 2010, the Employer stopped trafficking. In 2016 this subject was sentenced to 27 years in prison.
But according to investigations, the Employer returned to sell cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamines between 2012 and 2014, which entered vehicles and tunnels from Tijuana in Mexico to the United States.
