The area where the State Capitol is located was flooded and water got into several corridors of the building, according to the governor Greg Abbott.

The State Preservation Board is working with the Governor’s office as well as all applicable agencies to address flooding at the Capitol stemming from the current storm in Austin.

It’s all hands on deck.

Apparently the large amount of rain caused one of the gutters of the Capitol to clog.

Abbott reported on his Twitter account that they do not know the amount of damage caused to the Capitol and that for now they do know that the sector most affected is corridors E2. 200 and E2 – 300.

“The Flood in the corridors most affected it is approximately one inch of water and recovery operations have begun to minimize the interruptions of the legislative activities that resume on Monday, ”said a statement from the Capitol on Sunday.

“We have all available personnel working to remove the water and dry out the affected areas,” the statement added.

Videos have appeared on social media showing some of the damage to the Capitol floor.
