Group of 300 migrant children surrenders to Border Patrol in Arizona

A group of almost 300 children who were traveling alone surrendered to the Border Patrol agents in the last 24 hours in Arizona, immigration authorities reported.

However, in total more than 400 migrants were detained by agents assigned to the Tucson Sector of the United States Border Patrol , according to the acting chief, agent John R. Modlin.

“In the last 24 hours, four separate groups, a total of 400 immigrants, surrendered ”, said the official in reference to the foreigners being placed in the hands of immigration authorities.

Added that more than 280 of those people were unaccompanied children who crossed the border irregularly.

Reports from that sector indicate that arrested 100 unaccompanied children from Guatemala and Honduras on 27 July.

This week the Immigration and Customs Control (CBP) office is expected to publish the July figures on the arrival of immigrants at the border, where expulsions are also established.

However, the data as of June of the fiscal year 2021 reported that there has been 752, 171 arrests under Title 42 , that is, people who have already been or will be expelled to their countries due to the emergency of the COVID pandemic – 19.

There is 324,751 more immigrants who were detained, processed and / or expelled under Title 8, which corresponds to those who do not meet the requirements to request asylum.

In March there was a record of unaccompanied minors with 18, 920 , but July –according to previous data– has imposed a new limit with 19, 000 .
