The Secretary of the Interior of Mexico, Olga Sánchez Cordero , denounced this Monday that a false WhatsApp account is being used to request money in his name.
Through her Twitter account, the federal official stated that this account is also being used for “other purposes”, although she did not specify which ones.
Olga Sánchez Cordero, who this morning accompanied the President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in his morning conference, reported that he will make the corresponding complaint to the authorities in cybersecurity.
“ They inform me that messages are being sent to my name from a false WhatsApp account , for different purposes, such as asking for money. We will immediately proceed to make the corresponding complaints so that the case may be investigated and punished, “said the Secretary of the Interior of Mexico.

In previous days, other political actors denounced the hacking of their WhatsApp phone numbers. Such is the case of Margarita Zavala, wife of the former president of Mexico Felipe Calderón .

Other politicians such as Claudia Anaya, senator and former candidate for the government of the State of Zacatecas for the PRI -PAN-PRD, reported the same situation on his Twitter account.

Something very Similar happened to Senator Ricardo Monreal, of the Morena party, the 22 July, when he reported the hack on his Twitter account.
“Since last night my cell phone number was hacked, preventing me from accessing any application, so I ask to ignore any message that may be received from it, either by WhatsApp or other means. We are trying to solve the problem, and I will keep you posted, ”wrote Ricardo Monreal.

Another case happened in the past 21 of July, when the Mayor of Cuajimalpa, Adrián Rubalcaba, denounced the same modus operandi on his WhatsApp account.
“My phone was hacked. I know that several have received strange messages from my WhatsApp, please ignore them, I do not have access to my phone, when I recover it I will notify you this way. Thank you ”, commented the Mayor of Cuajimalpa.
