Walmart, Costco, Target and other stores could require the use of masks following new CDC guidelines

Walmart, Costco, Target, and McDonald’s are among the top retailers and restaurant chains that could again require the use of masks at the time when COVID cases – 19 are skyrocketing in the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updated their guidelines on Tuesday recommending that all people, including those who have been vaccinated, wear a mask in closed spaces in areas of the country where COVID cases – 19 are spreading faster .

Until this Wednesday morning, many retail companies continue to not clarify their will update their policies after having eliminated its use in May, following the recommendations of the CDC .

Most retailers have phased out the use of face masks. Although some store workers might be happy to release their use while others fear that fewer customers wearing masks could expose them to a higher risk of infection .

One of America’s leading retail unions, the UFCW, has asked the CDC to strengthen its recommendations and make masks mandatory again to protect workers.

Brian Dodge, President of the Retail Industry Leaders Association, representing Walmart , Target, Best Buy, Walgreens, Home Depot and other large chains, said Tuesday that retailers understand that the guidelines may evolve and “ masks might be necessary again under some circumstances . ”
