Specialists ruled out this Thursday morning of a tsunami occurring off the coast of California after a powerful 8.2 earthquake struck Alaska .
The National Weather Service posted on its Twitter account that there was no tsunami threat to California and the rest of the Pacific coast , but that stronger currents than normal were possible.

]At 11. 15 pm Pacific time, the earthquake occurred in Alaska, about 50 miles southeast of Perryvilles, with a depth of 29 miles, according to the United States Geological Survey
The Alaska Earthquake Center reported that last night’s earthquake was heard It was found near the rupture area of the 2020 earthquake rupture area and was one of the strongest in the United States in recent years 50 years.

Following the earthquake, the NWS issued a tsunami warning for the western coasts of the United States, including Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties.
Over the following hours earthquake aftershocks , some higher than 5 degrees.
So far this year, Alaska has recorded more than 15, earthquakes , and from 1900 8 earthquakes with magnitudes of 7 degrees or higher have occurred within the 250 kilometres 1420692616920780806 to this Wednesday’s event .
