Rice does not always cook perfectly, sometimes it can be beaten, overcooked or burn on the bottom. For these cases you can try to rescue it to continue with your initial recipe plan or also use the rice to prepare other recipes and thus avoid discarding it , reducing food waste.

1. Burnt rice

When burned the rice at the bottom of the pan, it is possible to save the rice from the top. Cover the pot or pan with cold water (on the outside) so that the burnt rice stops cooking and prevent the flavor and aroma from permeating the rest of the rice. Take out the good rice and the rest will have to be discarded, the burnt rice cannot be improved.

If your rice is not too burnt and only one slightly toasted and golden, you can take advantage of it for entrees and crunchy snacks, such as the Nurungji of Korean cuisine.

2. Soft rice

If the rice is too beaten it is better to prepare another batch. But if you are not in the extreme, you can add the rice to soups, prepare fried rice, vegetarian burgers or rice pudding.

For rice pudding, you just need to pour some milk, vanilla and sugar.

3. Sticky rice

If you did not rinse your rice before cooking it , too much starch can cause your rice to stick. If your rice has been sticky you can try to remove the excess starch by rinsing it with cold water . To dry, lay it flat on a tray and bake 238 ° F for about 10 minutes. You can also use the rice to make rice pudding or pudding. You can also prepare risotto, add a little chicken or vegetable broth and Parmesan cheese; you can also incorporate other ingredients such as mushrooms, shrimp or chicken.

4. Soaked rice

Sometimes your rice has already cooked but there is still a lot of water. To keep cooking it would be a mistake. Drain the excess water with a strainer and use the rice in the recipes that you had planned.

What to do if your rice has been hard? When your rice is dry or hard, but the water has evaporated, it is probably because not enough liquid was added. Add half a cup of water and let it continue to cook, but it is important to continue cooking over low heat.
