Florida woman arrested who locked her autistic daughter in a cage

MIAMI- A Melbourne woman, in central Florida, was arrested and accused of having her daughter, a minor suffering from severe autism, locked in a cage at her home, local media reported on Tuesday.

Melissa Doss, 42 years, was charged this Monday with a crime of aggravated abuse of a minor and child neglect.

The arrest of the woman, to whom a judge imposed a bond of $ 20, 000 dollars, it occurred this weekend, when a Doss neighbor called the emergency line 911 to report that a minor had climbed over his fence and was in his yard.

The researchers also found that the girl slept in a “homemade cage made of metal and wood” where she was locked up at night.
