Moments worthy of a movie, perhaps the most romantic that television has offered in recent years. Belén Pérez Maurice, Argentine fencer, was giving a note in the mixed zone just minutes after losing in the 16 Finals of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 against the Hungarian Anna Marton, when her coach and partner, Lucas Saucedo, “infiltrated” the interview with the surprise proposal. “Flaca, do you want to marry me? Please ” read the banner displayed in front of the cameras.
The fencer was still not aware of the situation. But Gonzalo Bonadeo, who was chatting with the athlete at TyC Sports, noticed what was happening and suggested that she turn around . Pérez Maurice, then, melted into a hug with his partner and quickly said yes. Before the moment you could hear Saucedo pleading, jokingly: “Tell me yes, a lot of people are watching us” .
“They are 18 years together . We always talk about how and where we are going to grow old, I hope it happens, we were always very low profile. I think it is a good place to declare all my eternal love and admiration for La Flaca ”, said Saucedo. “I was coming in fine, without crying at any Olympic Game, but here…”, laughed Pérez Maurice, moved by a surprise that left far behind the unpleasantness of an unsuccessful Olympic premiere.
