Study: Houston Has the Deadliest Highway in America; I-45 from Galveston to Dallas is a hazard

HOUSTON – Having appeared on the list of the most prestigious cities in the world – thanks to Time magazine – Houston has now been singled out for having one of the most dangerous highway sectors on the planet.

A new report from Budget Direct, which analyzed the numbers in conjunction with data firm NeoMam, indicates that the deadliest highway in the United States is on Highway I – 45 northbound from Galveston to Dallas and passing through the Houston limits.

According to the study numbers, the mentioned road has seen 56. 5 fatal accidents for each miles.

The study also notes that based on reported accidents Houston has the deadliest stretch of highway with 73 deaths.

In the Budget Direct report it is mentioned that Harris County has filed a lawsuit against the Texas Department of Transportation for halting plan to expand Highway I – near the center.
