For months the country has been suffering from the shortage of various products despite the fact that the economy reactivated, however, the demand that has been generated has already impacted the supply chain, which has not been fully recovered due to the impact left by the pandemic .
One of the sectors that is lighting the red lights for the issue is that of aviation, since there is a fuel shortage, in addition to an urgent demand for firefighting aircraft, which continues to cause problems in airports throughout the West.
According to MarketWatch in Nevada, state and federal congressmen reported that they are investigating a possible jet fuel shortage that could delay delivery of cargo and passenger travel at Reno-Tahoe International Airport in the coming days.
Additionally, an increase in demand for jet fuel from both commercial airlines such as firefighting aircraft in Montana and the Pacific Northwest caused departure problems and one-day flight delays recently at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
Meanwhile, in California, recent flights in and out of Fresno Yosemite International Airport were halted due to a lack of jet fuel. This was due to the lack of deliveries of tanker truck drivers .
Congressmen reported that Reno-Tahoe Airport, Nevada’s second-largest metropolitan area, faces a shortage of jet fuel that could force the cancellation of cargo and passenger trips. This undoubtedly potentially restricts the flow of tourists and essential goods to the northern part of the state.
In addition to serving Reno, the airport is the closest passenger terminal to Lake Tahoe. Nevada authorities released a statement promising to minimize disruptions at the airport and ensure that the aerial fight against western wildfires is not hampered.
MarketWatch reported that Stacey Sunday, a spokeswoman for the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, said the shortage at the Reno airport was due to a confluence of factors, including a shortage of tanker truck drivers. “Simply, there is no one available to drive the fuel trucks here,” he said.
The state authorities are working with those in charge of the airports so that this is solved as soon as possible and there is no impact on passengers or that they are affected cargo flights.
