The California government has approved a $ 3.5 billion budget to boost the use of zero-emission electric vehicles and the charging infrastructure necessary for them, also to address equality and employment issues in the state, according to CleanTechnica. This amount, which sets a precedent in terms of investment in clean energy, results from the efforts of the state and from more than 50 organizations that work for the climate, social equality, public health and the creation of new sources of employment.

These efforts have the same objective: to achieve complete climate neutrality in this United States territory , but also to support the inhabitants so that they can adapt to this transformation. According to the CleanTechnica report, this incredible sum of money will be distributed in different projects:

1. Electrify public transportation buses, school buses, and other medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, a task for which $ 1.4 billion has been earmarked. In this plane, the state has come a long way and already has a school district whose fleet of school buses is being electrified .

two. Build the charging infrastructure for this first group of vehicles with an investment of $ 415 million.

3. Implement equitable transportation projects such as Clean Cars 4 All, for which $ 400 million have been allocated.

4. Build the necessary charging infrastructure for light, medium and heavy vehicles through the Clean Transportation Program of the California Energy Commission (CEC). For this, $ 500 million will be allocated.

5. $ 525 million for green incentives offered by the state to its inhabitants for the purchase of clean vehicles.

6. Promote the manufacture of zero-emission vehicles with an investment of $ 250 million.

With all this, the state also seeks to take the first steps in social equality related to this new technology that is transforming the world . The main intention is that all the inhabitants of the state have the same opportunities to be able to use the different clean transportation options and thus meet the objective of electrifying the state and achieving climate neutrality for 2045, as promised above.

California is the pioneer state when it comes to energy transformation, a role that has been playing since the decade of the 90 , with the implementation of the first Engine Control Units (ECU) to reduce emissions from gasoline vehicles . In recent years, that transformation has reached mind-blowing speed, with the state continuing to set the standard for clean transportation and new forms of energy.
