The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott , has remained active in his battle against immigrants and the situation on the border.

The Republican, who now leads the ideas promoted by the former president Donald Trump , has launched several initiatives against immigrants, including one declaration of disasters that allows local police to detain non-citizens for “invading private property.”

In addition to this, it intends to build a border wall and has requested police assistance and with elements of the National Guard to the Republican Governors of Arizona, Nebraska, Idaho, Florida, Ohio and South Dakota.

Now, Abbott criticized the “complete abandonment” of the southern border by the Administration of the President Joe Biden and suggested the creation of a working group, considering that the boundary line lives one “unprecedented” migration crisis .

Abbott held before the State Capitol, in Austin, a meeting with sheriffs and legislative representatives from bordering localities in Texas, with whom he discussed the possible creation of a working group on border security in order to address the “excessive number of people crossing the border”, as he said.

Due to the total abandonment of the current administration regarding immigration, “there is an unprecedented increase in people crossing the border, and the federal government has left the state of Texas and its counties to assume the burden ”, said the governor during a press conference after the meeting.

Abbott added that the border problem is not just a “Texas issue”, especially with regard to drug trafficking, and that is why other states have added their support on security issues through the dispatch of National Guard troops.

Today’s meeting comes nearly a month after Abbott announced the construction of a border wall in South Texas, for which it allocated a consignment of 250 millions of dollars in public funds.

The proposal generated a series of criticisms, both for the possible political background, given that the governor aspires to re-election, and for the unfeasibility of a project that appeals to the legacy of former President Donald Trump, who also promised a border fence .

The Texas-Mexico border has more than 1, 200 miles in length, according to the State Department of Transportation website , and c Building just one mile costs about 100 million dollars, according to data provided by the state representative Gene Wu.

Still, Abbott has made funding border security a priority for the state legislature.
