California authorities extended the “Flex Alert” to save electric power this Saturday as temperatures continue to rise throughout the state, including multiple historical heat records .
The Alert Flex, issued for Friday in California , is in effect this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. During these hours all users are asked to reduce their use of electricity as much as possible to reduce pressure on the electricity grid and avoid rotating blackouts.

The basic recommendations are set the thermostats to 78 degrees F or more, do not use appliances , especially large ones like washers and dryers, and turn off lights that are not needed.
California ISO, the independent electric power operator in the state, explained the effects of the Flex Alert, but noted that the fires are another challenge.
“The conditions It’s on the power grid were a challenge on Friday, when many parts of California experienced triple-digit temperatures, ”said California ISO.
“ Data ISO’s show that electricity demand started to decline after Friday’s Flex Alert went into effect and conservation on the part of users began to take place. But conditions rapidly deteriorated as the Bootleg Fire continued to grow and became a transmission…”.
The Bootleg Fire is located in southern Oregon very close to the border with California and on Saturday it grew to 77, 000 acres.
Some heat records fall in California and are expected to continue to fall
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service at its Sacramento station said that at 3: 15 pm on Saturday there was 110 degrees F in the center of the capital of California, the third time this figure has been reached this year for tie a record of occasions. Before it happened in the years 1925 and 1996, only now it is logged before August arrives.
Temperatures above 105 degrees F abounded in other northern California cities.

Some heat records were also set in Southern California in the middle of the afternoon and the temperature was expected to continue to rise.
At Lancaster airport 112 degrees F at 3 p.m. Saturday, tying the mark of 1961, while at the airport in neighboring Palmdale in the Antelope Valley there were 112 degrees at 2 p.m., surpassing the mark of set to 2003 Y 1961 .
And in Paso Robles, one of the wine meccas in California, the thermometer reached 114 degrees to match the mark of 1961.
This whole panorama is more serious before the drought of historical proportions that suffocates the state. The Governor asked Californians Thursday to save a 15% of water in the face of the delicate situation.
