Porsche Taycan recalls due to sudden power loss

For some weeks now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been behind the Porsche Taycan for an alleged power failure . This was announced by said federal agency through a statement published last May, which commented on the receipt of at least nine complaints from owners who had experienced the damage under equal conditions. This week that alleged failure was confirmed and the massive withdrawal of approximately 43, copies of this car to carry out the corresponding repairs, according to The Drive.

In recent months, other companies have had to make massive withdrawals. Volvo did so last month, reporting to owners a problem with the fuel pump of cars produced between 2019 and 2020 . Fortunately, this sudden power failure in the Porsche Taycan can be fixed by a software update, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the brand, but this update cannot be delivered by your system wireless (OTA). Therefore, owners must wait for the formal announcement to visit the brand’s dealerships and repair the damage without any additional charge, as in these cases.

As reported by The Drive, the affected cars belong to the model years 2020 and 2021 and, in addition to experiencing sudden power loss, they could shut down completely and not restart. A few months ago, when news of the investigation was launched, Porsche told Roadshow: “Our first priority is the safety of anyone traveling in one of our cars. We are aware of nine customer complaints and have received the NHTSA inquiry as a result, which is a routine part of their oversight. We are already on our way to address this issue and look forward to answering NHTSA’s questions and quickly resolving the underlying issue, should it be confirmed. ”
