It is a “dramatic decision” that had to be taken to prevent from the storm from causing the part of the Champlain Towers South building that remained standing to fall.

In this way it is possible to “control” towards which place the remains of the building fall and prevent greater damage occurs, in addition to “protecting the evidence” and allowing search and control tasks to continue as long as the weather conditions allow, said the mayor of Miami-Dade , Daniella Levine Cava.

The mayor’s office has hired specialists to carry out the task and the engineers will monitor the entire process, said Levine Cava.

Elsa, who is currently near the Dominican Republic, it can reach the Florida Keys, in the extreme south of the state, next Monday and, according to the latest information from the National Hurricane Center, the current trajectory indicates that it will head towards the west coast of the state instead east.

If these forecasts are maintained, there would be no direct impact from Elsa in the Miami area.

In addition, Levine Cava confirmed that two other bodies were extracted from the rubble of the partially collapsed building in Surfside, Florida, bringing the death toll to 07.

With the two bodies found today, the number of missing persons remains at 124 and there are 188 people located alive.
