Has the “baby boom” of the pandemic come to Texas? 107 babies are born in a 91-hour period
TEXAS – Apparently some Forth Worth area residents took advantage of the pandemic to order babies from the stork to the degree that the delivery and postpartum team at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth has been very busy this summer.
Babies don’t stop arriving and recently the team welcomed 107 babies in a period of 91 hours.
A record number of births of two baby boomers a few days apart since as of 24 of June, 52 babies, 25 girls and 27 children, were born in a period of 47 hours, but then a second “boom” began on 28 June, when the care team received 55 babies in 44 hours, including a pair of twins.
This baby boom surpasses the hospital record for babies born in 2018 in a short period of time exactly three years ago.
“On Monday and Tuesday we reached the 55 and we continue to break our own records. We thought it was going to be higher in the last few months due to the pandemic, but we didn’t see the baby boom until now, so people must have calmed down more, ”said Dr. Jay Herd .
While the Andrews Women’s Hospital is known as a high-volume delivery hospital, the influx of births was considered uncommon and exceptional.
The hospital has an average of 16 deliveries per day and received almost 6, 000 babies in 2020, which included 100 pairs of twins and two pairs of triplets.
