Grupo Topos de México helps in the search for 150 disappeared after collapse in Miami


The leader of this group of rescuers asked the relatives of the victims of Champlain Towers “not to lose hope”, because they have found survivors under rubble up to four weeks later in other accidents

A team of 10 rescuers from Grupo Topos joined the weekend to search for survivors and bodies of the deceased among the rubble of the south building of the Champlain Towers , in Miami.

A report from Univision adds that rescuers ask relatives to “keep hope”, since by the experience of years , this group has found people alive three or four weeks after similar incidents , as in earthquakes in Mexico and Haiti.

Rescuers had to wait to obtain permission from those leading the search for people, actions coordinated by Miami-Dade authorities .

Héctor Méndez, coordinator of the group, explained to the television station how they operate in the rescue of people between concrete and steel.

“The tiles are moving, it is identified when there is a possible victim; the team stops; They call the moles, we enter, we see, if we need to move more (concrete) ”, he said.

He added that if there is no need for more tiles to be removed, then members of the resvate body Moles enter with cutters and make their way to reach the person who could survive or the body located.

So far they have recovered 11 bodies, but follow dozens of missing people . Rescue work has not stopped since last Thursday at dawn.
