Audi has reinforced its energy transition commitment with a new plan that includes not only the manufacture of new electric models, but also the phasing out of its internal combustion models Such decisions come from the statements of Markus Duesmann, CEO of the brand, who participated in a conference organized by the Berlin Climate Neutral Foundation. According to Duesmann, the brand is preparing to stop producing internal combustion engines, a technology that will not exist at Audi for , all this with the intention of continuing to promote its all-electric line, which it hopes to increase to 20 Models for 2025.
“With this roadmap, we are creating the clarity needed to make a decisive and powerful transition into the electric age. We are sending the signal that Audi is ready ”, mentioned Duesmann.
Duesmann also clarified that the complete elimination of internal combustion at Audi still depends on customer demand and laws or accelerate despite the proposed date. What is certain is the manufacture of new electrified options, an initiative in which Audi has a long way to go with several of its new models: e-tron GT, RS e-tron GT, Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback and -tron, which represent the basis for its promise of other all-electric models that will be available on the market at 2025.
To ensure these plans are met, Audi has been investing in the expansion of charging infrastructure , necessary for this technology to be truly sustainable. A few months ago, the brand launched its project for Audi centers that, in addition to having fast charging points, will have a rest area where customers can wait comfortably, have a coffee or entertain themselves while their vehicles recover energy.
Despite abandoning gasoline engines, the brand wishes to bid farewell to this technology by creating its best internal combustion engine, another plan that will seal its way into the future.
