Israel bombs Gaza on second day of attacks since ceasefire broke

Israel bombed Gaza for the second day in a row on Thursday when a ceasefire signed last month appeared to unravel between the two sides.

“During the last day, incendiary balloons were launched from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory”, said the Israeli army in a statement . “In response, a short time ago, IDF fighter jets attacked military compounds and a rocket launch site belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas in Gaza City and Khan Yunis.”

The IDF went on to say that were ready for a “resumption of hostilities” if the attacks from Gaza continued.

The Hostilities escalated into airstrikes and rocket attacks between Israel and Hamas last month, killing at least 232 people, including 65 children, in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Ten people, including a soldier and a 6-year-old boy, were killed in Israel by the Hamas rockets, according to Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency service.

After nearly two weeks of fighting, Israel’s security cabinet approved a ceasefire with Hamas on 20 May without any conditions.
