Mexico begins in the border area the application of more than 1.3 million vaccines against COVID-19 donated by the United States.

Mexico began in the state of Baja California with the application of 1. 35 million doses of COVID vaccines – 19 by Janssen , a drug from the Johnson and Johnson laboratory, which were donated by the United States to the Mexican government.

“Vaccination does not stop in the country, it continues. This is a special program because we got these vaccines from the United States. We want to vaccinate the population of the 39 municipalities of the border strip so that the border is opened as soon as possible, that is the purpose ”, he pointed out.

During the conference morning, the Secretary of Security, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, was in charge of presenting this new vaccination plan in the border area with the United States that began in Baja California.

Baja California, by instruction of the president, is the first entity that will have universal vaccination from the 18 years onwards “, reported Rosa Icela.

The Secretary of Security specified that it began with the immunization of the entire population over 18 years in the six municipalities of the state of Baja California such as: Tijuana, Mexicali, Tecate, Rosarito, San Quintín and Ensenada.

He explained that all 1. 35 million Janssen vaccines, single dose drug, will be applied during the next 10 days in 16 vaccination centers and with an average of some 140, 000 daily dose.

Last Tuesday 15 of June 2021, Janssen’s vaccine shipment landed in Mexico that the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, had promised Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
