Man and 2-year-old son found dead in Maryland in apparent murder and suicide


Maryland police investigating these deaths that occurred on Friday, believed to be a murder-suicide. The wife of the deceased man and mother of the baby had reported the disappearance of both on Thursday night

According to a preliminary investigation, Thomson’s wife called the police around : 30 pm Thursday to report that she was concerned about the lateness, because her husband had picked up her son from her parents’ home in Boonsboro, around 8: pm to go hiking and that she drove to the parking lot along the Appalachian Trail on the block 2021 of the Baltimore National Pike in Boonsboro and found her husband’s car parked and

Thomson’s wife reported him missing and expressed concern that he said jo that “her husband had been discouraged lately.”

The State Police launched an immediate search operation calling the Mobile Field Force, the Special Operations Division, and the Police Force

Natural Resources Police. Resources included personnel trained in tracking.

Police identified father as Sean Thomson, from 34 years. He and his son were pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy and his father from Frederick, Maryland, were found dead along the Appalachian Trail, and Police are investigating their deaths as an apparent murder-suicide.

Maryland State Police said the child is Dawson Thomson, 2 years old Police believe he was killed by his father, Sean M. Thomson, of 34 years.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene in the Black Hills Trail area in Washington County.

“It just seems to be a tragic example of the discouragement that can settle in someone”, said Greg Shipley of the Maryland State Police. If people have any such clue with someone they know, they should seek help. ”

The police said the reason was not clear and that the family had been living together.
