“Maya and the Three”: Netflix reveals the first images of the animated series based on Mesoamerican mythology

Maya and the Three is the new animated series that Netflix is preparing for the hand with the director Jorge Gutiérrez . Recently, the streaming giant gave a first look at the series.

Inspired by Mesoamerican mythology and its heroines, the show follows the adventures of Maya, a warrior princess who will embark on a journey to fulfill an ancient prophecy and thus be able to save humanity from the vengeful gods of the underworld.

“As a lifelong lover of movies fantasy, I was deeply inspired by the glorious Mesoamerican art and exhibits at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, my birthplace, ”said the creator of the series.

“I created Maya as our own eagle warrior princess, who is fiercely rebellious,” he said in the statement shared by the streaming platform.

The creator by Maya and the Three relied on his mother, sister, and wife to create the main character; “Our young heroine is lovingly inspired by the true Mexican warrior women in my life,” he said.

Guitierrez participated as a co-creator on Nick’s series, The Tiger.

Maya and the Three will launch on Netflix in the summer. It will be an epic of four and a half holes that will be divided into episodes of 30 minutes.

“I can’t wait for audiences of all ages and from all over the world to join Maya and the Three in his fun, heartfelt and epic quest to defeat the gods of the underworld and save his magical world “, concludes the creator.
