Australian swimmer sent message against misogynistic perverts within the discipline


Maddie Groves, the double silver medalist of the Rio Olympic Games , wrote on his social networks the explanation of his absence in the qualifiers

Australian swimmer Maddie Groves decided to waive qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 with a message against of misogynistic perverts in their discipline.

The double silver medalist of the Rio Olympic Games 2016 wrote on his social networks the explanation for his absence in the qualifiers: “ Let this be a lesson to all misogynistic perverts in sports and their boot licks himself. You can no longer exploit young women and girls, body shame, or medical pressures and then expect them to represent you so you can earn your annual bonus. Time is over”.

The Australian Swimming Federation contacted the press regarding the Groves case: “We have had an ongoing dialogue that has been generated by Maddie through social media, we contacted her in September 2020 to try to interact with her about these concerns you have. ”

Swimming Australia President Kieren Perkins also commented:“ We have done it again now, and unfortunately at this point n or we were able to have a direct conversation with Maddie to understand exactly what her concerns are , who is are the people involved, so that we can investigate and deal with it. We certainly encourage her to do so because this is one of the most important problems and challenges we have. ”
