A bakery in Texas that made heart-shaped cookies in the colors of the rainbow by the LGBTQ Pride Month got a bad reaction. The owners found themselves with canceled orders and a significant loss of followers. However, then there would be some big show of support.

It all started when Confections, a Lufkin-based bakery posted its Pride cookies on Facebook on July 2, accompanied by the next words: “More love. Less hate. Happy pride to all of our LGBTQ friends! All the cookie lovers and happiness are welcome here. ”

The message of love for the LGBTQ community published by the bakery was not liked by all its followers. Confections shared that had received a message of hate and angry customers canceled their order of five dozen cookies with summer themes that had already been baked, decorated, and the cookies were ready to be picked up the next day.

The sisters Miranda and Dawn who own the bakery never thought that a post that literally said “more love less hate” would get a bad reaction. They said to each other with heavy hearts, noting that the business is very small and is struggling to stay afloat and spread some joy through baked goods.

“Today has been hard… We have lost a significant amount of followers because of a rainbow heart cookie we posted. We have received a very hateful message on our page… My heart weighs… If you like our cookies, tomorrow we will have an abundance of them. I hope tomorrow is better ”, it could be read on Confections Facebook.

What the bakery never imagined is that after a hateful message and the withdrawal of followers the following answer would be totally different, a wave of words of support would come and 2, 500 new followers. Two days after the bad day, Confections had a long line of people lined up around the block, waiting to buy their desserts.

“In the 11 years that we have been open we have never seen anything like this ”. The owners asked for a little patience to attend to those who were waiting in line and answer the phones because they did not expect such an outpouring of love.

The bakery was also offered donations, but the owners requested that these contributions be directed to local animal shelters . By Saturday, July 4, all of her cookies and other desserts had been sold out. When there was nothing left, people put their credit card to donate.

After all the wave of affection that followed after a negative message. Miranda wrote: “More love. Less hate. Forever”.
