TEXAS – A small Texas county southeast of Dallas was shocked by the news that its mayor has been indicted having requested sex from a minor through the internet .
Authorities reported that James “Monte” Montgomery, Mayor of Athens posted bail after being arrested for being accused of soliciting sex from a minor online.

Gregg County Jail records show Montgomery was arrested and charged by the Depa Longview Police Department.
Details of his arrest have not been released by investigators.
According to E. Tyler Morning Telegraph, the Texas Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigations said Montgomery and three other men were arrested during a sting operation.
The city of Athens issued a statement this Friday on social media
highlighting that they were “shocked” upon learning of Montgomery’s arrest and that they would be “considering all possible actions” as the investigation unfolds.
