  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk (300 milliliters)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon instant yeast (7 grams)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (113 grams)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (50 g)

    1. Microwave the milk until lukewarm, then add the yeast and stir. Let the mixture rest for approximately 5 minutes.

    2. Whisk together the milk, eggs, melted and cooled butter, sugar, and salt. Add half of the flour and mix. Once combined add the remaining flour and mix again. If you consider that the dough is too wet, you can add flour by the tablespoon.

    3. Cover the bowl with a kitchen cloth and let it rest for about an hour until it doubles in size.

    4. Pour the dough out onto a floured surface and roll to ½ inch thick.

    5. Cut the donuts with a donut cutter. You can also use two cookie cutters, a large one (3 inches in diameter) and a small one for the hole. You can gather the dough from the centers to form more donuts, taking care not to overwork the dough.

    6. Place donuts on wax paper or parchment paper, leave enough room for them to grow by 50 minutes.

    7. Heat the frying oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot. Place the donuts in the oil, when the bottom has a golden color, flip them with a spatula to cook on the other side. Remove the donuts using a tongs and place them on racks or trays with paper towels.

    How to make the frosting?

    Mix in a bowl the sugar, milk and salt. Dip the donuts in the frosting and wait for the topping to set.

    Your donuts are ready to be enjoyed with a coffee, a latte, a milkshake or your favorite ice cream.
