Joe Lara, actor of the Tarzan series, dies in plane crash

Joe Lara , protagonist of the television series’ Tarzan: The Epic Adventures ‘, died last Saturday when the private aircraft in which he was traveling crashed near Nashville, Tennessee .

The actor of 58 years was traveling with his wife, Gwen Shamblin Lara , and with five other people in a Cessna 501 that had left the city of Smyrna and was heading to Palm Beach, Florida. For reasons still unknown, the plane crashed shortly after takeoff and fell into Percy Priest Lake. All passengers died .

According to the local Tennessean newspaper, none of the people on board had permission to pilot the aircraft and. Lara had a pilot’s license but had not updated her medical certificate since 2017, something that is required to be done every two years.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lara was born on October 2, 1962 in San Diego, California, and worked as a model before debuting as an actor. At the end of the decade of the 80 was chosen to star in the movie “Tarzan in Manhattan.”

He reprized this role some years later in the series ‘Tarzan: The Epic Adventures’ (1996 – 1997)), for which he also served as producer . The show was filmed at the Sun City resort in South Africa and lasted only one season due to financial problems at the distribution company Seagull Entertainment.

The actor got married in 2018 with Gwen Shamblin , founder of Remnant Fellowship church and leader of the Weigh Down Workshop dietary program.

The other passengers on the aircraft were identified as Jennifer J. Martin, David L. Martin, Jessica Walters, Jonathan Walters and Brandon Hannah . Several of them were part of Remnant Fellowship, Tennessean reported.
