A man from 41 years of the eastern province of Jiangsu, in China, was infected by the avian influenza virus H N3. The National Health Commission assures that the risk of a large-scale spread is “very low”.

The Chinese health authorities announced today the detection of the world’s first case of avian flu H 10 N3 in humans.
In a statement, the National Health Commission assures that until now never a human contagion of this virus had been detected, which is a “accidental” transmission and that the risk of a large-scale spread is “very low” ”.
The patient is a man of 41 years of Eastern Jiangsu Province that the past 23 April began to notice fever and other symptoms, sie ndo hospitalized five days later after his condition worsened.
The Commission notes that the condition of the infected person has improved to the point of reaching the requirements to be discharged.
The authorities carried out emergency follow-ups to all his close contacts in the province and found no “abnormalities ”.
According to the experts, who reiterate that it is an isolated case, the H virus 10 N3 does not have the ability to effectively infect to humans.
The Commission appealed to citizens to avoid contact with dead birds on a daily basis and to try not to approach the live ones either, as well as to take care of the alimentary hygiene and to go immediately to a doctor in case of presenting symptoms like fever or problems respiratory.
