Robot dolphin from the creators of the killer whale Free Willy will swim with the public for the first time

The animal organization PETA (acronym in English for people for the ethical treatment of animals) announced this Monday the launch of an ultra-realistic animatronic dolphin that aims to end with animals in captivity in marine parks. The presentation of what they have called Dolphin Spirit will take place this Thursday 27 in May between 11: 30 in the morning and 1: 00 in the afternoon.

In a press release, the organization explains that the animatronic dolphin -more credible and similar to a real one than a robotic one- it was created by Edge Innovations, the same company that also created the mechanical killer whale that was used in the movie Free Willy .

Its creators have made Delle, the name they have given the dolphin, “ look, sits and behaves like a real dolphin “, according to the information published by PETA. The organization defends this type of creations that use mechatronics so that people can get to know these mammals up close without having to remain in captivity in small places , where they can only swim in circles .

In its invitation to get to know Delle up close, PETA denounces that real mammals that are in marine parks live in “desolate concrete tanks”, where they also “are exploited as breeding machines “.

The launch of the animatronic dolphin will take place this Thursday 17 May from 11: Foundation / John C. Argue Swim Stadium located at number 3980 by Bill Robertson Ln, Los Angeles, CA 90037.

In this exclusive event will also be the creators of Delle and the Attendees will be able to know how water parks will have to be to respect animals.

Welcome to Dolphin Spirit! In partner with Edge Innovations, our dream is to reimagine the marine park industry and change the future of these social, intelligent, and endangered animals. The time to end their lifetimes in captivity is now. 🐬 # EdgeDolphinSpirit pic.twitter.com/Vn3otuOqb4
