The Cruz Azul has not been crowned champion of the Mexican league since 1997, but the cement team cannot be accused of not knowing how to position to do so.

This Saturday at the Azteca Stadium the Blues entered a new final of the Liga MX by defeating Tuzos del Pachuca 1-0 in the second leg. The first leg had ended without goals.

The victory of the Machine that allows it to advance to the final of the Clausura tournament 2021 was on birthday 94 of the club . Cruz Azul completely dominated the decade of the 70 in Mexican soccer, but after 1980 has only achieved one crown, that of the Winter tournament 1997, already 24 years.

It may be a matter of time, although with Cruz Azul it is better to never claim victory.

Santiago “Chaquito” Giménez scored the only goal of the phase with a header to the 50 minutes. That allowed the loyal celestial fans – the same ones who have suffered and cried practically year after year and semester after semester before the drought of titles – celebrate on a happy and hopeful night.

Anyway, the most important thing for the team led by the Peruvian Juan Reynoso was not to receive a goal from the Tuzos, which would have put the locals in big trouble.

Almost at the end, with Pachuca showing despair, Gustavo Cabral was expelled by violently stepping on Jonathan Rodríguez when this one was on the ground. There was an outbreak of anger.
