Sergio Pérez came from less to more in an always difficult Monaco Grand Prix and he was a few seconds away from a great reward: the podium. The Mexican finished fourth in Monte Carlo after starting in the eighth box . A perfect team strategy, coupled with an excellent performance on the car, gave “Checo” a more than satisfactory result to end the weekend with a smile.

Pérez finished just 1. 063 seconds of Lando Norris (McLaren), who finished on the podium in Monaco . The winner of the day was his teammate, Max Verstappen, who also emerged as the new leader of the championship. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) arrived in second place.

The Red Bull weekend

It was a great race for the Guadalajara, who in principle he was going to start ninth . However, Charles LeClerc, who had achieved pole position, could not be in the race due to problems in his car. Obviously Pérez started one position later, behind Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton . The team strategy would not only lead him to overtake the two world champions, but also Pierre Gasly.

Sergio Pérez took care of his tires again , and took them to the extreme to make a pit stop after the rest of the drivers. In fact, he came in after Max Verstappen, so briefly led the race . The Mexican entered the pits and came out fourth, a position he would retain without setbacks. He squeezed Norris, deducting several seconds, but the Brit withstood the pressure and third place.

Verstappen’s victory, added to the points of “Checo”, the seventh place of Hamilton and the abandonment of Bottas (Mercedes), gave Red Bull top the constructors table for the first time since 2013 . At least until the next race they will be able to boast of counting in their ranks the leader of the championship and also the position that validates them as the best team. Beats Mercedes by just one point (149 Red Bull, 148 Mercedes).
