Before the accusations and the arrest warrant, the governor of Tamaulipas, Francisco Cabeza de Vaca , pointed out that this decision is for “political reasons” and accused the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador of being behind his possible capture because the order “was taken in the National Palace.”
“It is no coincidence that the existence of the arrest warrant was would have been broadcast in the first instance by party members in the government. This only means that the decision to proceed against me was made in the National Palace, “Cabeza de Vaca said in a statement released Wednesday night through his social networks.
“Justice is used to persecute and intimidate opponents and citizens critical of the management of their government, especially when the electoral preference of citizens is in sharp decline,” said the governor.
“I am aware that the floor is not even and that the law has been buried by caprice. The Constitution does not protect the person, but rather the role that a democratically elected public servant performs. Our fundamental law guarantees that the responsibility granted by citizens through the ballot box is not arbitrarily and discretionally reversed to send messages of fear or intimidation, “he added.
