“Millions of children lose the right to live each year due to abortions. In Texas, we work to save those lives and that is exactly what we just did, “said the manadatario after signing the bill.
The law allows anyone person, even someone outside of Texas, to sue an abortion provider or anyone else who has assisted someone with an abortion beyond that limit, and they could face fines of up to $ , 04.
The law has caused controversy in the state and it is anticipated that opposition groups will sue in court for harassing doctors, patients, nurses, domestic violence counselors, a friend who took a woman to a clinic or even a father who paid for a procedure.
With the law Texas is in line with more than a dozen other states that prohibit abortions after six weeks, the detection of a fetal heartbeat. For the most part, federal courts have blocked the enforcement of these measures.
Critics say the terms of the law are absurd, as many women do not know who are pregnant even in the sixth week of gestation.
