AUSTIN – Texas health authorities reported that the state has already exceeded the threshold of 20 millions of vaccines applied against COVID – 19 .

According to Governor Greg Abbott, more than 50% of Texas residents have received at least one dose of immunization against this virus that has killed almost 20, 000 of people in the state since the pandemic began, this number of deaths makes Texas the third state with the third highest number of deaths due to the virus behind from California and New York.

Texas, likewise, is approaching 2, 500, 000 infected by the virus (the second highest record in the country only surpassed by California).

“The State of the Lone Star has reached an important milestone in our fight against this virus,” said the governor.

The president celebrated that with the expansion of the vaccine age range, now starting at 12 years, “there is something more we need to do to vaccinate more people and keep our communities safe.”

Abbott said “Vaccines are the most effective defense against the spread of the virus and therefore I urge all eligible Texans to get vaccinated,” although he recalled that vaccines are voluntary.
