Amazon announced this Thursday that is looking to incorporate 75, additional employees in their compliance divisions and transportation.
The company has been hiring large numbers of employees to fill positions in its warehouses throughout the coronavirus pandemic adding more than 400, 000 workers due to increased consumer demand and bringing its total number of employees to more than 1 million.
Amazon will offer its workers an average starting salary of $ 17 dollars per hour and a bonus of $ 1, 000 dollars depending on where the new employees reside . The company is also offering $ 100 additional dollars to new employees who get vaccinated against COVID – 19.
Amazon continues being the second largest employer in the country behind Walmart that counts with more than 2 million employees.
However, the e-commerce giant also has faced a series of complaints about the treatment it gives its workers in distribution centers . Employees have complained about unsustainable conditions and requirements as they are forced to stand for hours and pack items in record times .
Drivers have said that have had to skip their own bathroom breaks and deliver packages on time looking forced to urinate in plastic bottles .
Amazon also managed to end a campaign that sought to unionize a large part of its distribution center workers . The employees sought to join the Retailers, Wholesalers and Department Stores Union (RWDSU), but did not get the necessary votes. The union says it will appeal the vote on the grounds that the company intervened in the process.

Amazon has denied mistreating its employees by acknowledging that awards a starting salary of $ 15 dollars and grants them benefits and medical care.
Jeff Bezos , the founder of Amazon, acknowledged in its latest letter to shareholders as CEO , that the company should do more for its employees.
