Miami Dade County in Florida could accept cryptocurrency payments

Commissioner Daniella Higgins announced that currently a team of specialists are evaluating the use of cryptocurrencies in the county Miami-Dade in Florida , with the idea of ​​creating opportunities and innovation for the residents of this town.

They are 13 finance experts, hosted by Higgins, discussing how the county can adopt the use of virtual money to pay taxes, fees and other services : “With a cryptocurrency task force, we can explore options and opportunities in this county ”assures the commissioner.

The idea is to exploit all possible options to achieve this adaptation. If this initiative is approved, residents and visitors of the county Miami Dade will be able to use any of the altcoins such as bitcoin, etherium, bitcoin cash and even doggy coin, for commercial activities.

In fact, some businesses are already accepting these digital currencies in Miami . For example, in Coral Gables, the Thesis hotel already accepts cryptocurrencies as a payment method. One of its executives has been enthusiastic about this news since she believes it is beneficial for the rest of the businesses that still do not dare to enter the world of virtual money.

An interesting initiative at the level of businesses, because nowadays buying, selling, eating in a restaurant or traveling is not requires neither cash nor credit cards, but a QR code on a mobile phone, also known as a digital wallet.

The idea has been seen in a positive way by many investors because as it is not regulated by any government or financial entity and also has an armored technology, it gives them security in many ways.

For now, there is a deadline of 180 days for the team to work selected for this project present a report, it will determine how n viable is the initiative to accept cryptocurrencies throughout the county as a form of payment or commercial exchange.

In Florida, this proposal was already advanced by Miami Mayor Francis Suárez, who months ago announced his plan to allow city residents to pay taxes and other fees from the mayor in Bitcoin.

All these initiatives from of local governments join that of central governments that have also shown their interest in entering the world of cryptography or virtual money. Even groups specialized in financial technology are working to facilitate the adoption of bitcoin by financial institutions in the United States.
