Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez scored in the Portuguese Grand Prix after an outstanding performance that led him to take fourth place in the race. As a result of this, and the effort made by the Mexican rider throughout the event, he was chosen as the runner of the day .

Pérez started In fourth place he finished, however, he was overtaken by Spaniard Carlos Sainz in the first round. It wasn’t the best start to the race, because it quickly got complicated. Later he fought with Lando Norris, who also won the battle.
The tapatío would become the leader of the race on the lap 38 / 66 following the pitting of the top 3: Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and their teammate, Max Verstappen. From the team booth they signaled to Checo, who had not come in to change his tires, to hold on turns.

Despite a great race in which he kept fighting for the podium, Checo Pérez declared his dissatisfaction with the results. “ I’m not happy with fourth place, nor satisfied. It’s not where I want to be. We had to be ahead. A shame, because we could maximize everything , ”he assured.

Pérez points out that he continues to adapt to the new car and also to the Red Bull team. That is why it was key to have a good number of laps running “in the open” on the track (in reference to the laps in which he led). This allowed him to focus more on how to take care of and get the most out of his car.
Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez will compete in a week. The Spanish Grand Prix will be as soon as next Sunday. The venue will be Barcelona, Montmeló Circuit.
