The Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Escobar , who died December 2, 1993 in Medellín, he had a large number of properties in his native country, one of the most famous being the one he had in the department of Antioquia.
The history of the residence, known as Hacienda Napoles , dates back to the year of 1978 when the feared leader of the Medellín Cartel and his cousin, Gustavo Gaviria , acquired several lands with a joint extension of 7, 415 acres.

The Hacienda Napoles had buildings with dozens of rooms, with six swimming pools, with 27 artificial lakes, with a bullring and even a zoo where rhinos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, camels, hippos, among other animals.

After Escobar’s death, the imposing house was expropriated by the authorities, while months before their animals began to be distributed among the different zoos of Colombia.
At present it is divided, because while one part was transformed into a medium security prison, the other was converted into the Hacienda Napoles Theme Park, a site that has had great acceptance among tourists since its opening, as it not only has water games, but also the largest natural reserve in all of South America.
The hacienda still conserves There is a replica of one of the ‘Patron’ aircraft in one of its entrances, which was very special for him, since he made his first flight to the United States there.
