The governor of Texas would sign a law that allows to carry pistols without a license in public

AUSTIN – Texas Governor Greg Abbott finally agreed that he supports legislation that would allow Texans to carry handguns in public without a license.

The president had refused to comment on the controversial bill that advances in the Capitol of Texas , but in an interview he admitted that he would sign the legislation when it reaches his desk.

“I support the proposal, and I think it will eventually hit my desktop. I think we’ll have the constitutional right to carry (guns) in Texas, ”Abbott said on Rick Roberts’s radio show.

As recent as last week, Abbott refused to comment on the proposal and did not want to say if he supported the proposal, which was passed last month in the House.

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has commented that the legislation does not count with the necessary votes in the Senate to be approved, but that is trying to find alternatives that can help achieve its approval.

This is what I’m seeking for Texas — a law to defy any new federal gun control laws.

It will make Texas a Second Amendment Sanctuary State.

Last week Patrick formed a new committee made up of politicians who favor the proposal to carry weapons without permission.

The bill HB – . was referred to the committee formed by Patrick and it is anticipated that it will be held for a hearing on Thursday.

Abbott said he has spoken with several senators on the matter and is confident that the proposal can be approved.

“I believe that it is progressing and I think that the differences will be settled so that it eventually reaches my desk,” said the governor.
