Hard statements by Javier Aguirre against the level of MLS and Concacaf

The coach of Rayados de Monterrey considers that American football is not up to height of the Mexican. In addition, it motivated the confederation to join forces again with Conmebol to improve the quality of the product

Tonight Rayados de Monterrey will face Columbus Crew for a pass to the semifinals of the Liga Concacaf Champions . The Mexican team will have to face the current MLS champion. However, Javier Aguirre does not seem to care about that label of his rival because he considers that the North American tournament is not at the football level of Liga MX.

The Rayados coach recognized the advancement of the North American tournament, but considered that it is not at the level of Mexican football. “The Americans before did not have the same level as today (…) before they hired a good name and nothing more . Now teams have their own field, before they played on baseball fields. The MLS is well structured, but under no circumstances are at our level ”, said the coach at a press conference prior to the international competition meeting.

The coach of the albiazul team stressed that one of the reasons why North American football does not explode is due to the lack of interest in that sport for the youngest . “They have not yet managed to establish it from the smallest. Here is baseball, American football, basketball, they do not have a quarry ”, he sentenced.

Concacaf is not appetizing for the world of football

Javier Aguirre was very blunt with the fact that the confederation competitions are not striking in other locations of the world. The coach made an analogy with teams from the Conmebol Libertadores to exemplify his theory. “ You play against River in Argentina and they see it in Spain, Abu Dhabi, Paris and Tokyo (…) I’m sure tomorrow’s game we won’t see it except in Mexico and the United States ”, he assured.

Finally, the Rayados de Monterrey coach encouraged the establishment of a possible union between Concacaf and Conmebol , just as it happened years ago. “ Merge between Conmebol and us (…) at a sporting level it is attractive to play with teams from another confederation or level, but it is something that happened in its day and hopefully we can tie and we can schedule all this. It would be nice to return to competitions of that caliber ”, concluded the strategist.
