The White House Chief Medical Advisor, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said Americans should begin to see a tipping point in the pandemic “within a few weeks,” reported CNBC News.

The United States has been averaging about 3 million Covid vaccine injections – 19 per day, said Fauci. Meanwhile, the nation reported an average of 58, 164 new Covid cases per day, through Sunday, according to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. That weekly average is a 19% less than a week ago.

If the United States continues its vaccination rate , “Literally in a few weeks, we will start to see a change in the dynamics,” said Fauci on Monday during a virtual event organized by Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.

“It is not reduced to the absence of infections,” Fauci warned. “If you’re waiting for classic measles-like herd immunity, it will be a while before we get there. But that does not mean that we will not have a significant decrease in the number of infections per day and a significant decrease in all parameters, namely, in hospitalizations and deaths. ”

The Biden Administration has insisted that residents in the country be vaccinated as quickly as possible as new highly contagious variants spread.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in early this month than variant B.1.1.7, which appears to be more deadly and more easily spread than other strains, is now the most common Covid strain circulating in the US

Health officials say they are concerned that this highly contagious variant, first identified in the UK, could halt the nation’s progress in the face of the pandemic. COVID – 19 has killed at least 573, 378 Americans in just over one year, according to the report of John Hopkins University.

Herd immunity

More of 96 millions of Americans, or the 42. 7% of the total U.S. population had received at least one Covid vaccine dose – 19 until Tuesday, according to the CDC . Approximately 96. 7 million people, or the 29. 1% of the population, are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.

Last week,

the Biden Administration announced a campaign mass campaign to persuade more Americans, particularly young people, to receive Covid vaccines – 19 as supply begins to exceed demand in some parts of the US

Fauci has said that the objective is to vaccinate between the 70% and the 85% of US population, approximately of 232 to 281 millions of people, to achieve herd immunity and contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic .

Fauci said Monday that Herd immunity is a “moving target.” The United States should focus on vaccinating as many Americans as possible. “We do not know what the durability of infection-induced immunity is. We don’t know if someone who got infected last winter or in the early part of 2020 will be safe, or will continue to be protected now ”, he warned.
