The Indonesian authorities rule out that the accident was caused by human error and they suspect that it started cracking when it was between 400 Y 500 meters below the surface.

Following the tragedy, the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, affirmed that the State would grant “higher level and honor promotions” to the 53 soldiers killed by their “Sacrifice and dedication.”
