The Ajax of Mexican Edson Álvarez was proclaimed virtual champion of the Eredivisie 2021 / 22 thanks to their victory against AZ Alkmaar (2-0) with a double from Davy Klaassen.

Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg saved Ajax in the first half with a pair of key interventions, clearing two dangerous shots by Calvin Stengs and Albert Gudmundsson.
