TEXAS – His wife had already made a strong decision, she wanted a divorce and there was a backtrack.

However, the husband tried with one last effort to save the marriage, but a serenade with mariachi was not enough to convince his wife and what began with a romantic gesture ended with a terrible tragedy.

A man Galena Park was sentenced to 45 years in prison for stabbing to death his wife, who at the time of the attack was sleeping with their 8-year-old daughter.

The case of José Antonio Medellín, from 42 years, shook this small town found 25 miles east of Houston , after details were released of the homicide that occurred in January of last year.

Medellín and its wife, Mayra Falcón-Medellín, were experiencing a marriage crisis and the woman had already expressed her intention to separate.

On the night of 24) of January, José Antonio took a mariachi serenade to Mayra with the purpose to rescue the marriage.

However, she told him that her decision to divorce had not changed and went to sleep, according to investigators in the criminal court of the Harris County.

The woman went to a room in the house where she slept with her little daughter.

During the early morning, José Antonio entered that room and stabbed his wife to death in front of their daughter.

Around 4 am, after arriving at the house, the Harris County and Galena Park officials found the body of the woman and the girl huddled in fear in another room.

Mayra left four children and had various jobs to support his family. “She was a good mother, she loved her four children,” said Harris County Deputy District Attorney Michael Hanover, who handled the case.
