“On board, you feel like you can get anywhere”, a traveler tells me more than feet in a mountainous area, which in part defines the Land Rover Defender that we tested.
It is a solid but elegant model that respects the adventurous style of the original and enriches it with all the modern technology. Comes in 3.0L and 6-cylinder to deliver 395 horsepower and low and four-wheel drive, of course.
We were surprised by its power on pure stone roads, for example, and the height it gains above the ground with a suspension that adjusts in seconds, just by pressing a button.
A pity that we could not test the well meter that probes if the vehicle can go through or not, a water well on the road.
The Defender also comes with hill descent control and variable drive modes for different road conditions.
It has a very useful camera of grades, electronic traction and tire pressure control system, dynamic stability control, anti-roll stability control and even e-assistant l parking.
Its interior is comfortable without being sophisticated or extravagant. It is a car designed for rough work but that also works in the city. Of course, it is a fuel waster (some 19 miles per gallon on average).
Also comes with adjustable seats, durable rubber cockpit, dual climate zone, and plenty of USB connection ports and regular connectors. [.
As additional equipment it brings an Off Road Package with a beautiful panoramic roof, tires of ′ (5 split-spoke), heated and cooled adjustable front seats and even a cabin air inonator ( with sensor that measures air quality). And if to that we add the Explorer Package with the classic ‘flaps’ for the wheels and a rack for packages, as well as a metallic exterior compartment with a key (and a somewhat rudimentary mechanism), the bill of $ 62, 250 from basic becomes $ 78, 595 with shipping costs.
Although it normally seats 5 people, it also has a very small third row of seats that They open to accommodate a child or a pet almost on the floor in a small space, but in which their Safari-type side windows counteract any feeling of enclosure, for a while at least.
It seemed to us quite a gentleman vehicle, made to respond without scares in almost any part to which one occurs to put it.
