On Wednesday 17 April was released the death of scammer Bernard Madoff , who next 29 April would meet 83 years.
Bernie, who was considered the mastermind behind the biggest pyramid scam in history and purged a penalty of 150 years in prison , was arrested on 11 from December to 2008.
Before his arrest, the New York-born enjoyed all the luxuries we can imagine, including an impressive beach house in Montauk, New York .
Madoff acquired the land, in 1980, for $ 150, 000 Dollars, with the purpose of building their rest home there with the help of architect Gene Futterman .
The property, of 3,000 square feet, belonged to Madoff until 2009, year in which it was sold to the real estate entrepreneur Steven Roth and his wife, the theatr to Daryl Roth.
The Roths paid $ 9, 410, 000 of dollars by the residence and the money raised was used to increase the restitution fund for Madoff’s victims.
After the purchase, the Roths undertook to make some improvements and renovations to the property, as it was very neglected and deteriorated.
It is for that reason that the house increased its price considerably and in 2018 was released for sale in $ 21 millions of dollars, a figure much higher than they disbursed at the time.
The lack of offers led the Roths to reconsider their position and sacrifice their financial claims, having announced it in December 2020, on $ 17. $ 9 million .
So far it has not been announced if the house has already been sold or not.
According to the technical sheet, the house has three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, dining room, hall, living room, main room, terrace, balconies, among other rooms.
