Congressmen seek the green light for international travel and cruise ships are reopened

Those involved ask that the government become more involved in issues related to tourism, a fundamental economic source for several regions of the country. Legislators will do everything possible to make tourism part of the country’s economic recovery

A new Senate subcommittee on travel and tourism held its first hearing and asked the government to enact specific measures to boost tourism in the country, after the devastating 2020.

Legislators seek to lift restrictions so that foreign tourism can enter the country. The restriction has affected states dependent on tourism such as Florida, Nevada and Washington .

In addition, Congressmen will push for cruise lines to resume sailing. Tori Barnes, executive vice president of the United States Travel Association, stated that “there is a route to reopen international travel.”

Barbes said allowing travel to resume international travel would shorten the recovery schedule for the battered travel industry . Legislators indicated that representation of the issue is required in the cabinet.

“There is no cabinet-level position that focuses on tourism. We believe leadership is needed, ”Barnes said.

Senator Dan Sullivan expressed concern about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s conditional navigation order ( CDC) for cruise lines.

The CDC has said that Covid – 19 spreads in a cruise environment and has recommended caution . Its latest guidelines suggest that it will require daily disease reports, frequent testing, and vaccinations when crossings are allowed to resume.

Despite the positions of lawmakers, the reopening of trips of all kinds will depend, to a large extent, on the advance of vaccination throughout the country , not only from the main tourist centers in the United States.
