Texas highway shooting leaves at least 1 dead and 5 injured

Six people were injured Friday night when people in two vehicles shot each other on a freeway in Fort Worth, Texas, said the police.

The two vehicles, which according to the police had several occupants each, were traveling eastbound on the Southwest Loop of the freeway 800 just after 10 pm local time, when people started shooting each other for unknown reasons, according to police.

Stray bullets hit a woman who was driving an unrelated vehicle and a man who was inside her house, located on a service road to the highway, reported CNN .

Six people in total were shot and taken to hospitals, five were being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Dominick Dijuan Primes, 19 years, who was also transferred to a nearby hospital, died from the shooting, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to reported Fort Worth Star Telegram .

Authorities have not reported if Primes was one of the innocent bystanders or was in one of the cars. Officer Tracy Carter , a police spokesman, reported on Saturday morning that the incident is still being investigated.

Authorities reported that The identity of the suspects who fled and who assume that the shooting is gang related is unknown.
